stop-process
Abort the concurrent process. | Ctrl-C Ctrl-C |
For DOS, this command makes a concurrent process (see
start-process) believe that you typed Control-Break. You cannot
stop in this manner programs which do no DOS calls other than console
input or output. With a numeric argument, however, the command stops
the process in a different way, and can stop any program but causes
some (including early versions of the command processor) to crash the
system. Use this command with a numeric argument only after you've
tried it without one.
In other environments, this command makes a concurrent process believe
you typed Control-Break (or, for Unix, the interrupt key), as in DOS,
but without the restrictions and complications described above.
