DOS Installation

An older version of Epsilon for DOS is also provided on the CD-ROM, for users who must use DOS.

The Windows Console version, described previously, and the DOS version have a similar appearance, and both will run in older versions of Windows that support DOS programs, but of the two, only the Windows Console version can use long file names or the clipboard in all versions of Windows. The DOS version also lacks a number of other features in the Windows Console version. If you wish to run Epsilon from a command line prompt (a DOS box) within any 32-bit version of Windows, use the Windows Console version, not the DOS version, for the best performance and feature set.

To install Epsilon for DOS, cd to the \DOS directory on the Epsilon CD-ROM. Run Epsilon's installation program by typing:

install

Follow the directions on the screen to install Epsilon. The installation program will ask before it modifies or replaces any system files. The DOS executable is named epsdos.exe. A list of files provided with Epsilon appears in File Inventory.
